Regarding the presumed inability of a parent to be employed if their children don’t return to school…I wonder, what have the children been doing all summer? Why is the at home guidance or parenting that was happening all summer suddenly disappearing in the fall? Do parents routinely stop work for the summer and then return to work in the fall?

I’ve never understood that aspect of this conversation.
